Russians kill at least three civilians, injure 18 in attacks across frontlines since yesterday’s morning

Russian forces continued widespread attacks across Ukraine on 12 October and into the early hours of 13 October, resulting in civilian casualties and damage to infrastructure. The Ukrainian military reported intense combat activity and successful defensive operations against the ongoing Russian aggression.

Russia continues its deliberate daily attacks on residential areas in attempts to terrorize civilians and damage civilian infrastructure. The Russian army continuously targets settlements not far from the front with artillery, aerial bombs, and small drones. Also, the Russian forces launch dozens of Shahed long-range “kamikaze” drones every night, often also launching several missiles during the attack.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 186 combat engagements occurred over the past day. Ukrainian defense forces repelled 47 attacks in Donetsk Oblast’s Kurakhove direction and halted 36 assaults in the Pokrovsk direction. The General Staff says Russian forces carried out five missile strikes using eight missiles, 90 airstrikes, including 158 guided bombs, and 4,243 shelling incidents, with 156 involving multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).

Power facilities among Russian targets

The Ministry of Energy announced that as of the morning of 13 October, 503 settlements remained without electricity due to combat actions and technical disruptions. Power outages were reported in Zaporizhzhia and Kherson oblasts due to Russian shelling and other combat operations. In Kherson Oblast, a drone attack on a substation damaged equipment and caused a fire, leading to power outages for consumers. The fire was extinguished, and all consumers were reconnected using backup schemes.

Drone debris cause damage but no casualties in Kyiv and Cherkasy oblasts

In Kyiv and Cherkasy oblasts, air defense systems were active in intercepting Russian drones. The Kyiv Oblast Military Administration reported that air raid alerts were issued twice during the night, lasting over 10 hours. While no critical or residential infrastructure was directly hit, debris from intercepted drones damaged three detached houses in two districts. In Cherkasy Oblast, air defenses destroyed 12 Shahed drones. The Zolotonosha district experienced damage to several houses due to falling debris, but no casualties were reported.

Russian kills one civilian, injures four in Kharkiv Oblast

Kharkiv Oblast faced attacks using UAVs, MLRS, guided bombs, and FPV drones. Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Oblast Military Administration, reported that the Kharkiv, Izium, Kupiansk, and Chuhuiv districts were under fire. In Kindrasivka village, Kupiansk district, MLRS shelling caused fires in an outbuilding and a garage. In Cherkaska Lozova village, Kharkiv district, five detached houses were damaged, and two civilians were injured. In Kupiansk, an FPV drone attack near a passenger car injured two more civilians. A man born in 1967, who was severely wounded during the shelling of Cherkaska Lozova village on 12 October, later died in the hospital.

Russia shells and bombs Sumy Oblast

The Sumy Oblast Military Administration reported that Russian forces conducted 11 attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy Oblast overnight and in the morning, with 50 explosions recorded. The Myropillia community suffered the most, with 40 explosions from MLRS strikes. Guided aerial bombs were also used against the Shalyghyne, Bilopillia, and Hlukhiv communities.

Three injured in Kherson Oblast

In Kherson Oblast, Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Oblast State Administration, reported that three people were injured as a result of Russian attacks on 12 October. Russia targeted Beryslav, Novovorontsovka, Tiahynka, Shliakhove, Antonivka, Sadove, Inzhenerne, Prydniprovske, Zymivnyk, Lvove, and the city of Kherson. Russian forces struck a critical infrastructure facility and a cellular tower, as well as residential areas, damaging a multi-story building and three detached houses.

Russians kill two, injure 11 civilians in Donetsk Oblast

Donetsk Oblast chief Vadym Filashkin reported:

“On 12 October, the number of the victims of the Russians in Donetsk oblast increased by 2 killed, 11 injured.”

Later, Filashkin gave more details on the Russian attacks. In Ulakli (Volnovakha district), one person was killed. Another death occurred in Kurakhivka (Pokrovsk district), where nearby Kurakhove saw detached homes damaged.

In Shevchenko, Russian attacks injured three people, with damage to homes and administrative buildings, while injuring two more in Myrnohrad. In Kramatorsk district, homes were destroyed in Zakytne and Torske, and agricultural structures damaged in Ivanopillia. In Siversk (Bakhmut district), two were injured, and houses were damaged. Russia also attacked other settlements, including Chasiv Yar, damaging homes and apartment buildings.
