Relentless Russian bombardments push Kyiv forces in eastern Ukraine

Russian troops in eastern Ukraine are pressuring Kyiv forces with constant artillery bombardments, guided bombs airstrikes, and hundreds of FPV drones, said Major Anastasiia Bobovnikova, spokesperson for the “Luhansk” operational-tactical group, as per ArmyInform.

Despite being outnumbered in both equipment and personnel, Kyiv troops continue to hold their ground in the east. However, Russian occupiers are advancing, capturing more towns and villages, including Vuhledar. To change the situation, Ukraine is anticipating the approval to strike targets inside Russia’s territory, such as airfields, aviation bombs and ammunition depots, and military bases, from Western partners, including the US. Meanwhile, Russian forces persist in their destruction of Ukrainian settlements.

“In our sector, we primarily observe tactics already used in other cities of Donetsk Oblast. They destroy our fortifications with artillery, the cities, and homes so that our defenders have no cover. Then they send small groups to assault our positions, looking for weak points in our defense,” explained Bobovnikova.

Counter-battery operations yield some results, but the occupiers have an extensive number of weapons, military equipment, and personnel.

“Each day, our artillery delivers significant results. Over the past 24 hours, we’ve damaged several enemy artillery systems.

However, they have too many soldiers, artillery, equipment, and ammunition. Unfortunately, we see this on the frontlines. In some areas, they face limitations in succeeding; in others, we hold them back. But the sheer number of enemy forces is noticeable,” said the spokesperson.

The occupiers are also actively using guided bombs to target positions of Ukraine’s Defense Forces. They are also heavily using FPV drones against Kyiv forces.

“They are deploying hundreds of FPVs per day. We are not talking about a few or even dozens, but hundreds of FPVs in our area of responsibility,” added Bobovnikova.

Earlier, Ukrainian Defense Forces conducted a strike, resulting in a fire, on an oil depot in Rovenky, a city in the Russian-occupied Luhansk Oblast.
