Pentagon LEAK: Russian Casualties Exceed 600,000!!!
Video Summary
According to a Pentagon official, Russia’s losses since the summer have exceeded the total of all Soviet losses in any conflict since World War II. The official also speculates that President Putin will have a hard time recruiting new soldiers in the wake of these increasing numbers of casualties.
It’s not just the numbers that are alarming, but also the types of soldiers being recruited. Old men, often referred to as “grandpas,” are being sent to the front lines. A Russian investigative news outlet, Medusa, has reported that many of these older recruits are being used to fight, with some as old as 62. The average age of military personnel has risen, with 50% of soldiers over 50 years old. The situation is dire, with one soldier saying that since the start of summer, their regiment has lost half of its people killed or wounded.
To mitigate this problem, Russia is recruiting more old men, with 40% of new contract soldiers over 50. One Russian soldier even described the new recruits as “grim,” saying, “It’s like recruiting people who should be playing with their grandkids to fight a war.”
It’s impressive that Ukraine has a far different approach. They have a policy of not recruiting soldiers until they are 27 years old, intentionally attracting a younger and more motivated force. Russia, on the other hand, is experiencing a tragic and unsustainable rate of attrition.
This war is taking a toll on Russia, and it’s questionable whether they can continue this pace. As more people become disillusioned with the war, it will be harder for Russia to maintain morale and recruit new soldiers. As one analyst put it, “It’s much easier for a young person to grab a mortar and run several meters. Everything is heavy in war.”
