Estonian Soldier reacts to the Biggest Tank Ever
Video Summary
The Heavy Gustav, a massive German rail gun, was built in the 1930s as a response to the French Maginot Line. It was designed to fire 20,000-pound shells at a distance, capable of penetrating 7 meters of reinforced concrete. The gun was massive, standing 30 meters long and weighing over 1,000 tons. Its barrel was 80 centimeters in diameter, and it required a team of 500 soldiers to load each projectile. Although it saw action in the Siege of Sevastopol, it was deemed impractical due to its size, high cost of production, and lack of mobility. The Nazis developed three versions of the gun, with the second, named “Dora,” being deployed during the Battle of Stalingrad. The third version, codenamed “Lunch,” was planned to be a self-propelled tank, but it was never built. The Heavy Gustav was eventually dismantled and lost, with some of its remnants now housed in a German museum.
