Ukraine is losing the media war to Israel
Video Summary
In recent times, the conflict between Israel and Hamas has been dominating news headlines, overshadowing the Ukraine-Russia war. As someone who has commented on the situation in Ukraine, I have noticed a significant change in media attention. Just as the invasion of Ukraine began, I was fielding calls from journalists daily. However, after Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7, I received no calls about Ukraine for weeks, and even the few I did get were for comments on Israel. This is due to the dynamic nature of the conflict in Gaza, with significant daily events, whereas the Ukraine-Russia war has been more static. Another reason is the strong Jewish lobby in the US, which pushes Israel’s agenda, and the opposition group that wants to stop supporting Ukraine. Additionally, many Western politicians and populations misunderstand the Russian motivation behind the Ukraine war. They view it as just another war, similar to the one in Israel, but this mind-set can lead to a lack of understanding of the new security situation in Europe and the need to prioritize the war in Ukraine. It is crucial to distinguish between the two conflicts, as the war in Ukraine is an existential threat to Western Europe, while the conflict in Gaza is not. NATO must prioritize supporting Ukraine to prevent a long-term struggle with Russia, and not divert resources to the short-term crisis in Gaza.
