SECRET Phoenix Ghost Drone Given to Ukraine
Video Summary
The Pentagon has announced the provision of a new, secretive drone to Ukraine, dubbed the “Phoenix Ghost”. The drone is designed for tactical operations and is capable of attacking targets. It is manufactured by Aevex Aerospace, a US defense contractor, and has been in development before the invasion of Ukraine. The Pentagon has revealed that 121 of these drones will be sent to Ukraine, in addition to other military equipment, including 72 155mm howitzers and 144,000 artillery rounds.
The Phoenix Ghost is similar to the Switchblade system, a loitering munition developed by Aero Environment, which has already been sent to Ukraine. While details about the Phoenix Ghost’s design and capabilities are scarce, it is believed to be a quadcopter or another type of drone design that may have an advantage over the Switchblade.
The Pentagon’s move is seen as a bid to see which of the two drone systems works better in the field and potentially award a government contract to the more effective one. The move is seen as good news for Ukraine, as it demonstrates the Pentagon’s commitment to helping the country fight against Russian forces.
