Axios: Elon Musk joins Trump’s first post-election call with Zelenskyy
Elon Musk joined a 25-minute phone call between former President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on 6 November, sources familiar with the conversation told Axios. The call, which came after Trump’s electoral victory, yielded more reassurance than concern for the Ukrainian leadership.
The conversation signals both Musk’s potential influence in a second Trump administration and hints at possible shifts in US-Ukraine relations, though the exact direction remains uncertain.
“I had an excellent call with President Trump and congratulated him on his historic landslide victory — his tremendous campaign made this result possible,” Zelenskyy posted on X afterward.
Despite Trump’s campaign rhetoric questioning US aid to Ukraine and promising a swift end to the conflict, sources indicate Zelenskyy emerged from the conversation with measured optimism.
“Nothing of what Zelenskyy and his aides heard from Trump and his team in private has been alarming or made us feel that Ukraine is going to be the one who pays the price,” one source revealed.
During the call, Musk affirmed his commitment to maintaining Starlink satellite support for Ukraine — a crucial component of the country’s war effort, despite past tensions between Musk and Zelenskyy over the billionaire’s 2022 peace proposal.
