Russian attacks kill at least three civilians as Ukraine downs 41/80 Russian drones
Ukraine’s air defense intercepted 41 of 80 Russian drones across ten regions, with most shot down in Odesa and Kyiv oblasts. Meanwhile, Russian attacks resulted in civilian casualties and infrastructure damage across multiple regions.
Russia continues its deliberate daily air attacks on residential areas in attempts to terrorize civilians and damage civilian infrastructure. The Russian forces launch dozens of Shahed long-range “kamikaze” drones – usually Iranian-designed Shahed 131 or 136 – every night, often also launching several missiles during the attack.
Ukrainian Air Force reports shooting down 41 Shahed-type drones out of 80 launched by Russian forces in the early hours of 27 October. According to the Air Force, the drones were launched from Orel, Kursk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia.
The air defense operation involved anti-aircraft missile units, aviation, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine. The drones were intercepted across ten oblasts, with most successes recorded in Odesa and Kyiv regions.
Additionally, 32 Russian drones were reportedly “locationally lost” – meaning crashed, while one headed toward Belarus. The Air Forces figures suggest that at least six Russian drones might have reached their targets.
