US veteran against russian terrorism | Real-life story of dignity and courage
Video Summary
I’m excited to share my thoughts on the situation in Ukraine with all of you today. I’m Paul Smith, also known as Yuri, and I’ve been involved in the conflict for many years. I first realized the potential for war between Russia and Ukraine back in 2008 and decided to move to Ukraine in 2012. When the Euromaidan Revolution started in 2013 and Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014, I knew I had to do something to help.
I began by providing equipment and training to Ukrainian soldiers and rebels, and then I shut down my factory and traveled to Ukraine to fight alongside them in 2022. I’ve seen some horrific things, including the use of cluster munitions, and I’ve lost friends and comrades. But I believe that we must keep fighting for our freedom and rights.
One of the biggest challenges we face is the reality of Russian propaganda and disinformation. It’s easy to get caught up in a cycle of hatred and mistrust, but we must keep our eyes on the prize and work towards a better future for Ukraine. We must also be prepared to reintegrate those who have been influenced by Russian propaganda and help them transition back into Ukrainian society.
As I look to the future, I’m concerned about the division between Russia and Ukraine. It’s not just about Ukraine’s independence, but about the lies and propaganda that have been spread by the Russian government. We must work to educate people on the true nature of the conflict and the importance of reconciliation.
Thank you all for joining me today. I’m grateful to be here and I look forward to continuing to share my thoughts and experiences with you in the future. Let’s keep working together towards a brighter future for Ukraine and the world.
