How many fighter jets does Ukraine need?
Video Summary
The discussion about delivering F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine has been ongoing for a while, and it seems that Denmark and the Netherlands have been given the green light to train Ukrainian pilots to fly the jets. It’s a good development, but many people are still confused about the big picture and the purpose of delivering fighter jets to Ukraine. I believe it’s a matter of time before it happens. Ever since Russia’s full-scale invasion, Ukrainian armed forces have been transitioning to NATO-standard equipment, including 155mm ammunition, just like Western countries. This change is evident throughout Ukrainian armed forces, making it clear that Ukraine will soon receive supplies from the West. They cannot order more ammunition or spare parts from Russia. Therefore, the transition must also occur in the air force. If the Ukrainian air force does not transition to Western fighter jets, they will be left with no planes in the long run, as they cannot receive spare parts for their Russian-made jets. This is why I was so confident that Ukraine will eventually receive F-16s from NATO. The focus should be on the long-term perspective, rather than the short-term tactical situation on the front lines.
